"Tastings" Mini Master Classes at the 5x5 Dance Festival

Master Class 1: Contemporary storytelling  12:30-1:15 Garet Wierdsma

This tasting will focuses on breath and expansive movement throughout the body, control and balance, and storytelling through choreographic phrases. Garet's classes leave dancers feeling a strong connection to their body and breath, invigorated by their own abilities, and filled with a passion for movement. 

 

Master Class 2:  Modern Scramble  1:30-2:15 Lauren Horn

Dive into a diverse movement vocabulary as you explore the world of Modern Scramble. In this class we will work together to increase both our physicality and versatility. Though both warm up, phrase work and writing prompt, we will begin to build a greater awareness of our physical and mental limits. Not only will we work on ourselves, we will work to see and support those around us in our creative endeavors. For this class bring your whole self, and a journal.

 

Master Class 3: Joy and Connection  2:30-3:15 Chloe Carlson

Joy and connection! Those two invaluable elements of, and contributors to, vibrancy are what we will be cultivating through movement in this tasting. Dancers will learn about tools like “joy moves,” i.e. movements that spark joy across the globe, and experience the “collective effervescence” that neuroscience shows occurs when we move together.
