Description

Sword Dance

Korean Traditional Dance & Music Performance

Rooted in the noble spirit of the Hwarang warriors of the Silla Dynasty, the Korean Sword Dance has evolved through the royal court traditions of the Joseon era and continues to live today as a vibrant cultural art form.

Sword Dance brings this powerful tradition to the stage through a dynamic performance of dance, live music, and live singing, revealing the many meanings of the sword in Korean history—strength, discipline, artistry, and devotion.

The performance unfolds through three distinct interpretations of the sword:
The Warrior’s Sword Dance (Janggeommu), embodying the powerful martial spirit of the warrior;
The Artist’s Sword Dance (Pyongyang Geommu), showcasing refined elegance and expressive artistry rooted in traditional Korean dance;
and The Woman’s Sword Dance (Eunjangdo), expressing quiet strength and unwavering devotion symbolized by the traditional silver dagger.

Through powerful choreography, live music, live singing, and the striking imagery of Korean swords, this performance reveals how the sword—once a weapon of battle—has been transformed into a symbol of artistic expression, discipline, and inner resolve.

Experience the beauty, power, and spirit of Korean tradition in this unforgettable evening of dance and music.
