Sweet Summer Pow Wow: Screening + Q&A

Celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day with a special screening of Sweet Summer Pow Wow, a film by Leslie Bland and Harold Joe at the Museum of Vancouver!

Set across the summer Pow Wow circuit in British Columbia, the film follows Jinny and Riley, two young Indigenous people who find connection, love, and a sense of freedom while navigating the weight of family expectations and personal struggles. Moving between moments of joy, community and heartbreak, Sweet Summer Pow Wow offers an intimate look at youth, culture and the pull between responsibility and self-determination.

Following the screening, the film’s producers, Leslie Bland and Harold C. Joe will answer questions during a Q&A, sharing insights into the making of the film and the stories that shaped it.

Make an evening of it and explore the Museum of Vancouver’s current Indigenous focused exhibitions, including The Work of Repair: Redress & Repatriation, That Which Sustains Us, and c̓əsnaʔəm, which reflect on histories, living cultures, and ongoing conversations around land, belonging, and care during Indigenous History Month.

Plus, gallery admissions are always free for self-identifying Indigenous visitors!
