Experience the exhilarating sound of Sultans of String - one of Canada’s most celebrated and adventurous musical ensembles.

Led by Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal recipient Chris McKhool, these Billboard-charting artists create a genre-hopping musical journey through Celtic reels, Django jazz, rumba flamenco, Arabic rhythms and contemporary world music.

Fiery violin dances with rumba-flamenco guitar, bass lays down irresistible grooves, and acoustic strings meet electronic innovation to produce a sound that is intricate, energetic and entirely their own.

At the heart of every performance is a celebration of musical fusion, human connection and the many cultures and landscapes that shape Canada. Their songs carry audiences from the wild horses of Sable Island and an Arctic sunrise in Auyuittuq National Park to West Coast waters and the joyful energy of an East Coast kitchen party.

Sultans of String have performed at JUNOfest, Glasgow’s Celtic Connections Festival, New York’s legendary Birdland, London’s Trafalgar Square and three sold-out concerts at Toronto’s Koerner Hall. They have also performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and appeared on CBC, BBC television and radio, SiriusXM, World Café and Woodsongs.

Their acclaimed collaborations have included Paddy Moloney and The Chieftains, Béla Fleck, Alex Cuba, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Richard Bona, Crystal Shawanda and Ken Whiteley.

Their recent multimedia project, Walking Through the Fire, amplifies the artistry and perspectives of Indigenous collaborators from across Turtle Island. The project earned three Canadian Folk Music Award nominations and won Best Musical Film and Best Soundtrack at the Cannes World Film Festival.
