Bios:

💠 DJ dood 💠

DJ dood is a DJ and event producer that has been throwing and playing DIY events for the better part of a decade. Her sets are known for being energy-filled with groovy bass lines or a familiar vocal, supporting artists like like Prosumer, DJ Boring, and Brawther.

2024 was a big year for her; joining Public Disco as their Program Manager, programming all of Vancouver Mural Festival, having her DJ debut at Bass Coast Festival, and launching her dance series, dood’s dancefloor, as well as her collaboration with Max Ulis on their dance series, Full House.

Catch her at local hotspots like Vantek, Industrial, Letterbox, Village Studios, and The Birdhouse, or tune in to her monthly radio show, “Sup dood?” on Bside Radio.

💠 Nick Wisdom & Thomas Maxey 💠

Separated at birth, reunited in the DJ booth. Vancouver patrons, Wisdom & Maxey take turns leaving things better than they found them. Mixing house, funk, and everything in between, their unique spin has revamped dance floors across the world.

Nick Wisdom is a music producer, beat maker, and DJ. As one half of Potatohead People, Nick has collaborated with artists such as De La Soul, Redman, Phife Dawg, Kaytranada, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Illa J and more. He is also one of the founding members of Loop Sessions Vancouver.

For nearly two decades, Thomas Maxey has painted time with jazz, funk, soul, house, disco, r&b, and hip hop. He seeks invisible frequencies that light up a room, filling places and spaces with what’s remembered, what’s forgotten, and what’s waiting to be found.

💠 James C 💠

James C has been spinning around Vancouver for much of the last decade. From hustling gigs in clothing stores and breweries to popping up parties around the city, he loves seeing people enjoying music. James C is a fixture in Vancouver’s underground, rocking venues like Industrial 236 and Village Studios, and was recently tapped to play direct support for Conducta.

His vibe is determined by crowd and setting, so you can never be completely sure what you’re going to hear. He’ll give you anything from disco to garage – just when you need it.

As a founding member of event crew Tempo, James is passionate about continuously expanding the electronic music scene in Vancouver, so he’s ready to bring something special to STEP OUT’s debut show at Vantek.

A longtime regular in the East Coast festival scene with Future Forest, Evolve Festival, Rock the Dock, Home Bass, and Lighthouse.

Now a West Coast boi, finding the burner community with the strawsome bananawesome Bootti Frutti camp. He recently created The Bootti Lounge stage for their sold out 2-floor bonanza at The Penthouse strip club.

💠 Kraang 💠

Fusing percussion-driven UK Garage with sub-focused energy, Kraang's sound pays homage to his UK roots while pushing the envelope of the Pacific Northwest's electronic landscape. Co-Founder of Odd One Records, Kraang delivers vibey, air-punching cadences for sub-cranked dance floors.

💠 Schemmatic 💠

Schemmatic is a groove-oriented DJ based in Vancouver with a penchant for house and deep house selections influenced by jazz, soul, disco, and hip hop.

Co-founder and curator of STEP OUT Events, Schemmatic also serves as DJ and Vibe Director for Gruuv Operators, a collective of talented musicians and vocalists bringing live instrumentation to dance floor sessions. He has rocked venues and festivals such as Platform 9, Celebrities, the Vancouver Art Gallery, The Pearl, Burn In The Forest, Into The Dark, and more.

💠 Sayang 💠

Sayang is a Vancouver-based DJ with a passion for dance and music. She's an alumni of Tempo and Swrv parties, and a fervent supporter of multiple local scenes.

Expect groovy, funky, wobbly, and jazzy sounds. Drawing inspiration from both old-school and modern underground rave scenes, her style spans smooth house beats infused with the sounds of Detroit, New York, and Europe, UK garage, breaks, Latin-infused rhythms, and more. There’s no doubt that Sayang's set will have you bopping your head and moving your feet!
