Description

SPG’s Northern Roots: Original Showcase is a celebration of homegrown music, spotlighting the voices, stories, and sounds written right here in Northern Ontario. This one-of-a-kind concert brings together accomplished local singer-songwriters and musicians for an evening of 100% original music—no covers, no tributes, just authentic artistry.

From heartfelt ballads to roots-inspired anthems, Northern Roots highlights the depth of talent thriving in our region, giving artists a platform to share the songs that define who they are and where they come from. Each performance reflects the landscape, culture, and lived experiences of the North—raw, honest, and unmistakably local.

Featured Artists:

  • Chad Rivette – An award-winning Northern Ontario songwriter whose polished storytelling and contemporary country sound have earned national recognition and chart success.

  • Randy Smith – A seasoned performer and songwriter known for his roots-driven style and deep connection to Northern audiences.

  • Tessa Balaz – A compelling vocalist and emerging songwriter bringing fresh perspective, emotional depth, and modern sensibility to the stage.

  • Lynn Blunt – A respected Northern artist whose folk-influenced songwriting is rich with storytelling, warmth, and authenticity.

  • Natalie Crispo – A powerful songwriter and performer whose heartfelt lyrics and strong melodies have resonated widely across the region and beyond.

  • Eric Cloutier – A versatile musician and songwriter celebrated for his musicianship, creative range, and deep roots in the Northern music scene.

Produced by Sudbury Performance Group, Northern Roots: Original Showcase is about more than music—it’s about connection, creativity, and community. Audiences are invited to discover new favourites, support local creators, and experience the powerful original music being created in Northern Ontario.
