“Songs of the Season,” a Santa Fe College Holiday Tradition, Is Dec. 1, 2022

The Santa Fe Singers, directed by Music Professor Lynn Sandefur, will present their annual “Songs of the Season” concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, in the Jackson N. Sasser Fine Arts Hall at the Northwest Campus of Santa Fe College (SF), 3000 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $9 for seniors, students, military service members and children 12 and under; and free for SF students, faculty and staff with college ID cards. Tickets are available from the Fine Arts Hall box office at 352-395-4181 or online from Showpass at:

Sandefur said the concert is designed to usher in the winter holiday season that includes Christmas, Hanukkah and more by offering a “warm, fun and thoughtful” experience for the audience.

“‘Songs of the Season’ is an annual tradition here at the college,” Sandefur explained. “The singers perform holiday favorites that have been loved for years by old and young alike. Please plan to come and enjoy the happy and loving spirit of the season.”

The chorus, ensembles and soloists will be accompanied by live music provided by SF Music Professors David Smith directing the Santa Fe College Band, Mitch McKay on piano and Garrett Hecker on percussion.

This year’s program includes:

  • A new and exciting arrangement of "Christmas Is Coming" that was arranged for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with two pianos.
  • "Bashana Haba’ah" from a traditional Hebrew Prayer in the Jewish liturgy, referring to the personal peace bestowed by God and hope for the New Year.
  • “Salvator Mundi, Domine,” an original composition written by SF Music Professor Sheila Forrester.
  • A contemporary arrangement of the much-loved carol, "Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming."
  • A song made famous by The Andrews Sisters, "Jing-a-Ling, Jing-a-Ling."

Performances will also feature soloists and small ensembles, with selections to include “O Holy Night,” “Go Tell it on the Mountain,” and “Where Are You Christmas?” from the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

“Songs of the Season” is organized and sponsored by the Santa Fe College Fine Arts and Entertainment Technology Department. For more information about “Songs of the Season,” call Sandefur at 352-381-3639. For more information about tickets, call the SF Box Office at 352-395-4181.
