Soft Tongues by Jami Reimer

The tongue of the frog is of the softest known biological materials on this planet. It is this softness that yields the stickiness needed to pluck a fly from mid air, slough skin in perpetual acts of self-consumption, and stretch voice in promulgating chorusing networks.

Joined by bioacousticians, Jami’s field recorder, and an amphibious choir, this work invites full swamp submersion as we listen episodically through the shapeshifting life (and afterlife) cycle of the frog.

Speak in tongues! Breath through your skin! Inherit the earth!

Lobe is accessible by public transportation. It is on Hastings, close to the 14 Hastings, 16 Arbutus/29th Ave Station, and 20 Victoria bus routes. You can find street parking close to the venue.

Through performance excerpts and facilitated discussions between artists and audiences, this event unveils the captivating evolution of groundbreaking new works. This year’s Future Mythologies programming at IndieFest celebrates transformative and transcendent experiences in development by Jami Reimer at Lobe Studio on Nov 22, and Ruby Singh and Alina Sotskova on Nov 23 at the Annex.
