Musically, she’s added an array of picturesque electronics while her massive pipes dig into multi-perspective narratives. Saddle Tree Records helped announce a new, vital voice in music when it re-released Black Belt Eagle Scout’s debut Mother of My Children in 2018. The solo record by Portland’s Katherine Paul (born in the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community) is a tidal wave of grief—for a lover, a friend taken too soon and the ongoing colonization of ancestral land — through imploring lyrics, hazy but tense guitar and Paul’s achingly tender voice.

Syngja stoke the fires of fantasy and folklore with hypnotizing dream pop crafted by cellist and singer Tyr Jami and multi-instrumentalist Justin Guzzwell. Utilizing Icelandic poems and stories from Tyr’s great-grandmother, drum machines and synthesizer come together with the aforementioned layers to create a sound that is entirely new, albeit rooted in history.

Serenading us with songs about "boys and a love of romance", NOVEMBER (the moniker of Gregory-Yves Fenelon), promises something simultaneously sweet and seductive, and on that he delivers. Moody beats and sultry synths serve as a mesmerizing base for Fenelon's voice, a tone so deep and sensuous it can command an entire room while still making it feel like he's singing only to you.
