Sled Island presents the “Ready for Sled Island Players,” featuring George Chen, Robby Hoffman, Carol Zoccoli, Hoodo Hersi and more!

George Chen
George Chen has received the Deefhoof seal of approval and will be participating in Sled Island comedy as part of their guest curation of this year's festival! George has told jokes up and down the West Coast, in Austin, TX, and Shanghai, China. He has appeared on the Upright Citizens Brigade LA stage, featuring on Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel’s Crash Test and on Cameron Esposito and Rhea Butcher’s Put Your Hands Together. He's been part of SF Sketchfest and The Comedy Comedy Festival as well as performing standup in unconventional spaces like Marin Headlands Center for the Arts, the Contemporary Jewish Museum and SFMoMA. Now, most importantly, he’s coming for Sled Island!

Robby Hoffman
Robby Hoffman is a small ex-Chasidic lesbian Jewish American-Canadian stand-up comedian and writer. She splits her time between LA and New York, where she currently writes on truTV's The Chris Gethard Show. She’s also written for the Baroness Von Sketch Show, Workin’ Moms and Odd Squad, for which she was nominated for a DAYTIME EMMY! Robby has also performed at the 2017 Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal, at the prestigious 2017 Bridgetown Comedy Festival, at the 2017 Winnipeg Comedy Festival, and headlined the 2017 Queer Festival in Portland.

Carol Zoccoli
Carol Zoccoli is a comedian and writer from Brazil who has been living in Toronto for four years. In that time, she’s graduated from Second City’s Conservatory Program and has been performing stand-up regularly around the city. She was a recipient of the 2015 Tim Sims Encouragement Award in Toronto and was part of CBC's Accent on Toronto in 2016. In 2017, she appeared at the Halifax Comedy Festival, JFL42 and Laughing Skull Comedy Festival. Recently, she joined Second City's Education Company. Carol performs in English and Portuguese, with television credits including Saturday Night Live Brazil and Comedy Central Brazil. Carol has also performed for more than 10,000 people at Brazil’s Virada Cultural, so please make sure to laugh very loudly at her Sled Island show—it’s what she’s used to!

Hoodo Hersi
Hoodo Hersi is a promising Toronto-based comedian, having performed on prestigious shows including The Nubian Disciples of Pryor at Yuk Yuks. She has also performed at the New York Arab-American Comedy Festival, the Boston Women in Comedy Festival, Toronto’s Shedot Festival, and at San Francisco Sketchfest after being hand-picked by Audible to participate in one of their Fresh Voices showcases. She was also nominated for the Tim Sims Encouragement Fund at Second City, taped her first TV comedy special for No Kidding, was featured on SiriusXM Canada and has opened up for Moshe Kasher, Hari Kondabolou, Gina Yashere, Eric Andre, Jermaine Fowler and Matt Braunger. Along with being a talented writer (Hello Giggles, Essence Magazine and Vice Canada), Hoodo has also received an improv scholarship at Second City.

Jeremy Furlong
Able to wow audiences with his deep-fried physique and delicious comedy stylings, Jeremy delivers humour in unhealthy portions. Jeremy has held a lot of hard jobs and doesn’t have a problem letting you know how poorly he performed at each and every one of them. In short: come out to see some terribly funny comedy coming from a horrible, yet strangely likeable person.
