Description
The Body
Over the past quarter-century, relentless experimentation and collaboration have made The Body one of the most intriguing metal acts around. Their notoriously abrasive live shows blend noise music with sludge, harsh techno and more melody than other experimental noise acts would dare.
Blackwater Holylight
Firmly entrenched in extreme music but unafraid of prog and folk, Blackwater Holylight has released three albums of restlessly creative metal since 2018. Most recent record Silence/Motion explores grief while spotlighting the band’s genre agnosticism. This is metal that both grinds the bones and triggers the firing of synapses.
Death in Slow Motion
Death in Slow Motion is as mesmerizing and harrowing as its name suggests. The hypnotic post-rock compositions created by this duo on the 2022 EP DISM balance beauty and chaos with discordant walls of distortion and melancholy string arrangements, creating a soundtrack to the apocalypse through mesmerizing instrumentation.
SIMONE
The epic experimentalism of extreme music duo SIMONE is possibly best exemplified by its most recent release, the 20-minute “To Love Eternal Failure.” Made up of just bass, Moog, drums and vocals, the slow-grinding track shows the duo’s powers of steady sonic building and gradual release of explosive emotion. The group's new album, Love Forever, will be released on June 21, just in time for Sled Island.
