Description

Bad Bodies

Bad Bodies describes themselves as a group of “four art-punks making their R&B dreams come true.” It’s an apt description: most recent single “What’s Up” has a dream-like texture with just enough rhythm to sway your way to bliss. The band includes members of other local acts Meats, Dick Clark 5 and Governer.

Lovelet

Singer-songwriter Tim Biziaev used his temporary move from Edmonton to Montreal as an opportunity to grow his project Lovelet with more layered arrangements of lo-fi, breezy indie rock songs. They will perform with a full band and a new collection of songs with grand arrangements that still evoke the intimacy of a late-night dance.

MAUVEY

MAUVEY’s explosive style of pop is influenced by Afro-fusion, fashion, cinema and unabashed love. In the last year, he performed at Glastonbury, released the second entry in his three-mixtape trilogy and played SXSW. Don’t worry if you’ve seen him before — he’s bringing a new version of his live show to Sled this year.

Hip Hip Thursday

Emerging from Alcove Centre for the Arts, Hip Hip Thursday features six musicians bonded by their weekly Thursday jams. This project is rooted in creativity, serving as a platform to voice truths and celebrate Mohkinstsis' talent pool. Fusing hip-hop with jazz and indie-funk, their carefree approach to genre invites listeners to experience what words alone cannot convey.

Bluffing

Aidan O’Reilly of Temps and Dories brings his solo bedroom pop project to Sled Island. His recent debut EP People Pleaser showcases a reverence for an unique spin on American indie rock of the ‘90s. He’ll play Sled Island as Bluffing for the first time this year with Temps bandmate David Lavoie and Jae Polgar fleshing out the band.
