Description

Gustaf

Known for high-energy shows and an idiosyncratic take on post-punk, Gustaf is a rhythmically intoxicating post-punk band that knows how to make a party turn weird… in the best way. Debut album Audio Drag for Ego Slobs (Royal Mountain Records) has shades of Jonathan Richman, The Fall and ESG, delivered with their own sense of one-of-a-kind cool.

FauxFun

Full of energy and charm, FauxFun promises an energetic and engaging set of quick, angular post-punk songs that are a lot of fun (actually)! It’s hard to be somber when your melodies are this immediate and infectious, and despite the band’s tongue-in-cheek name, you will not leave its shows without feeling true and unbridled joy.

bananahaus

bananahaus describes its sound as “skronk,” an impeccable description for the chaotic fun found on the group’s debut album welcome to the bananahaus. This six-song haunted mansion ride crashes from unpredictable punk riffing on “gonna show” to meticulous scale explorations on “mouse trap,” leading you deep into an unnerving post-punk haus with no escape.

Still Depths

If Lydia Lunch was a math nerd or if David Byrne got hard from being electrocuted, they might have come up with something like Still Depths. The herky-jerky post-punk band deals in satire, skronk and stiff upper lip. Run to their Bandcamp to listen to the tweaky-freaky tracks from their 2023 album Best plan for your life.

Temps

Indie rock outfit Temps was formed in the midst of the pandemic by David Lavoie and Aidan O’Reilly. Borrowing sonic influences from jangly post-punk gems and mellow, modal jazz stylings, Temps crafts songs for the pensive intellectual via a cruising rhythm section, clean guitar arpeggios and delicate, crooned vocals.
