Description

Sunalta

The latest project from local electro artist L. Adam Fox (Carbolizer, Field Assembly) takes his music in a gorgeous and dreamy instrumental direction, with layer upon layer of synth-based beauty. Most of the tracks on debut EP Tidal paint an expansive, ambient auditory landscape with brushstrokes that are as subtle as they are bold. Chill time.

POSTNAMERS

This long-running project from multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Matthew Wilkinson is now a duo with vocalist Mary Wood. Shifting forms often, POSTNAMERS began as a noise-leaning project but now focuses on experimental. Start with the album IMIM, a collection made over eight years that came out in 2020.

Rob Knaggs

Fans of folk tunes and evocative movie scores will take to the experimental stylings of cellist Rob Knaggs. By way of Brisbane, Knaggs has shared stages with the likes of Tim Hecker and Toni Childs and performed for members of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. His sound has been described as cinematic and orchestral, meditative and dynamic all at once.

Matthew Cardinal

A member of acclaimed indie act nêhiyawak, Matthew Cardinal makes electronic ambient music that washes over and puts you in stasis. His full-length album Asterisms is a great starting point for his combination of eerie drones and prettier tendencies. That work is partly a culmination of a decade spent playing in groups and performing solo as a sound artist.
