Description

The Live Agency presents:

Vancouver International Jazz Festival

Shaun Rawlins with special guests Robots and Gods, Whelming and Julien Amar

SHAUN RAWLINS (Vancouver) // https://www.shaunrawlinsmusic.com/

Shaun Rawlins is an indie folk singer-songwriter from Vancouver, BC. He writes songs about life; from the little gaps and spaces that exist in all of our lives, to love and everything in-between. His main influences are: City and Colour, Dan Mangan, Death Cab for Cutie, Passenger and Ben Howard. Over the last few years, Shaun has been working with producer John Webster and has self-released two EP's: "Lost in Your Head" and "Clean Slate" respectively.

ROBOTS AND GODS (Vancouver) // https://www.robotsandgods.com/

Vancouver-based rock band. New, original music available now on all platforms. Winner of Live Acts Best in Vancouver 2016. Top Ten Muzooka Artists of 2016.

WHELMING (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/whelmingmusic/

Erik, Eric, and Mark are proud to present Whelming: bohemian rock music for the over-worked and under-stimulated. Whelming writes songs which are equally suitedfor "lying down on the floor of a dark room with your favourite headphones on" and "getting the old gang back together to drink and dance the night away".

In 2017, singer/guitarist Erik Severinson released his first album of solo music under the name Whelming. The 'Where You Are Now' EP was written and recorded out of love, and without expectation. There were no plans to perform those songs as a band, or to follow up the release with any new material. But after receiving extremely positive reviews from friends and peers from Vancouver's vibrant music scene, it was clear that it would be a well-received and worthwhile endeavor.

Fast-forward to 2018 and Whelming is performing loudly and proudly as a three-piece rock outfit in and around Vancouver. Featuring Erik Severinson on vocals, guitar and bass; Mark Kerrey on drums and vocals; and Eric Wettstein on guitar/vocals. Expect to be drawn in by the subtle complexity and raw power of this up-and-coming rock band.

JULIEN AMAR (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/JulienAmarMusic/

Julien has been surrounded by good music his whole life. His mother is a co-founder of the Vancouver Jazz Fest and his father is a romantic era pianist. He combines those two influences with those of punk, ska and hip hop to create a signature new sound.

In January of 2011 he recorded an EP entitled "The Delinquent" with Tom Speakman (of BOHA fame). Those songs are mostly written in high school and not a really accurate reflection of what the music sounds like now though. In August 2013, he recorded one song and one rap at Vertical Studios (We Are the City, The Zolas, Said the Whale), playing all the instruments. These tracks were then produced by Peter Robinson (Mad Child) and the video was done by El Cheapo productions and released October 10th.
