John Paul DeJoria epitomizes the American dream, rising from adversity to become a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist. Co-founding John Paul Mitchel Systems ni 1980 with a humble $700 loan, he transformed ti into the world's largest privately-held professional hair care company, securing its future with a 360-year trust. nI 1989 he co-founded The Patrón Spirits Company, with a mission to create a"simply perfect" tequila, the first of its kind ultra-premium agave spirit in the US.. Following the brand's acquisition by Bacardi in 2018, John Paul became Chairman Emeritus. nI 2023 he parlayed his love of tequila and spirits expertise into a new venture, joining the award-winning Bandero Tequila. Throughout his career, John Paul has made philanthropy his core mission and a mission of his businesses. He established JP's Peace, Love &Happiness Foundation with his family in 2011 to expand his philanthropic giving and contribute to a sustainable planet through investing in people, protecting animals and conserving the environment. Alexis DeJoria worked her way up to the premier Funny Car class by starting in Super Gas before moving to a Super Comp dragster. From there, she progressed to Top Alcohol Funny Car where she raced and managed a team from 2009-2011. She experienced success at every level, winning a Super Comp national event as well as capturing the TAFC win at the 2011 NHRA Northwest Nationals in Seattle.
Racing for Kalitta Motorsports, DeJoria made her professional Funny Car debut at the 2011 Dallas event. Her first career pro Funny Car win came in 2014 at the Arizona Nationals in Phoenix and was quickly followed that season by a win in Las Vegas and a victory at the historic U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis. She then went on to pick up victories in Las Vegas (2016) and Brainerd, Minn. (2017) before she took a two-season break from racing in 2018-2019. She returned to the series in 2020, partnering with Del Worsham to form DC Motorsports. Since her return, she has had one of the quickest race cars on the tour and clinched national event win No. 6 in 2021 at Bristol, Tenn., the facility where she powered to her first Funny Car final round in 2012.
