CALGARY, June 15, 2020 - As Alberta begins to reopen and the city looks for new ways to re-stimulate the economy, local Calgary software company, Showpass, is announcing their new “Staycation” concert model that is sure to satisfy the Stampede and summer festival blues. This concert-going experience utilizes hotel rooms with balconies overlooking a centralized pool deck, atrium or court yard, where onlookers can enjoy live entertainment from the safety of their own private balcony amongst their closest friends.
This concert model is the ultimate VIP live music experience that is just like watching a concert from a private box suite at an arena. By design, the hotel layout provides a safe social distancing environment with individual bathrooms, room service capabilities, contactless check in & check out, and a room to stay the night in, alleviating drinking and driving concerns and complying with all COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. The entertainment and hospitality industry have been two of the most impacted industries due to COVID-19, with the majority of major music festivals being cancelled and with hotel vacancy rates on the rise. The “Staycation” concert model will help to bring both industries back to life.
“The goal of this project is to get as many folks in the music industry - from musicians & crew members, to agents & promoters - back to doing what they love and most importantly, getting paid to do it.” says Showpass CEO Lucas McCarthy
This project started from a partnership with the Ramada Plaza Calgary Downtown in hopes of bringing some of the Stampede fun back into the city this summer. The first series of shows will be announced June 17 at 10AM MST and will take place in early July in partnership with Livestar Entertainment Canada and its brand, Hotels Live.
“Hotels Live is proud to collaborate with Showpass to bring live music back to Canadians. By providing a truly exclusive entertainment experience, we know this hotel balcony series will be our first of many to come.” says Rob Cyrynowski of Livestar Entertainment Canada/ Hotels Live.
More concert dates across North America are expected to be announced soon. Showpass has partnered with hundred’s the best hotel concert venues and is actively partnering with additional artists, festival and venue operators, promoters, and agencies to bring more events to reality.
