The Live Agency presents:
Sammi Morelli with special guests Kaylan Mackinnon and Victoria Staff.
SAMMI MORELLI (Vancouver) //https://www.sammimorellimusic.com/
Sammi Morelli is an award-winning Canadian singer/songwriter who seamlessly blends multiple genres with her fierce voice, fresh lyrics & sticky hooks. On stage, this “vivacious, engaging chanteuse" is truly electrifying and is often likened to powerhouse artists like Demi Lovato, Adele & Katy Perry!
Shortly after moving to Southern Ontario, she released the single “Everything You Are” in 2015 as the first of a new, more soulful sound that featured strong 80’s vibes and a verse from Vancouver’s rising hip-hop star Stevie Ross . It earned three Niagara Music Award nominations for Best Song, Best Songwriter and won “Best Female Vocalist.” In 2016 she teamed up with Niagara’s 16-piece-brass-hop outfit My Son The Hurricane , providing lead vocals on “Bottles” and “Birthday Cake” on their critically acclaimed album “Is This What You Want?” (premiering on exclaim! magaizine) and was the featured vocalist on Toronto rapper Jae Ari ’s NMA nominated single “Cream of The Crop.”
A series of gutsy moves led Sammi to assemble an all-star team of producers & writers for her highly anticipated forthcoming album, including; multi-platinum, Juno award winning producer Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen, Hedley, Simple Plan), Grammy-award winner Ian Prince (Quincy Jones, Bobby Brown), along with powerhouse singer/songwriter Laurell (Tritonal, Boehm, Charlie, Eurovision 2017, Santa Clara) and Billboard Top 100 artist/songwriter Stef Lang (DYLN).
“Sammi Morelli is a voice Canada will one day boast about,” her collaborator and mentor Laurell exclaims, “Her buttery tone, diva agility and tasteful, sensual lyrical interpretations make something of a phenomenon when she opens her mouth to sing.”
Now based back in her native British Columbia and fresh off a 25-date Cross-Canada tour Spring '17 where she wowed audiences from Montreal to Vancouver, she's unleashed her new single "Everybody Bleeds"... the first taste of an exciting new Sammi Morelli sound!
KAYLAN MACKINNON (Vancouver) // https://www.kaylanmackinnon.com/
For Kaylan Mackinnon it’s all about creating that perfect song, and generating feelings.
“I love writing lyrics that listeners can relate to or play at any given occasion. The songs that don’t just touch the tip of your feelings, but can kiss the inside of your soul.”
This young songwriter grew up in countryside of Ontario. From the young age of 13, Mackinnon began playing guitar, singing and writing her own songs. Her first major exposure came at 18 when she was nominated at the Toronto International Music Awards for Best Young Songwriterby a panel of judges (including Juno-nominated singer- songwriter Jully Black) for her original song "Remember Me." Following this experience, Mackinnon placed as one of the Top 10 musicians for the worldwide Hard Rock Rising Contest in March of 2014, where she was flown to perform at the famous Hard Rock Cafe in the heart of downtown Toronto.
The past couple of years Mackinnon has played at Canadian Music Week in her hometown of Toronto, where she has showcased her original material to industry professionals. Having lived in Vancouver for the past 5 years to complete her Creative Writing degree at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver has become home away from home. However, school hasn't been the only thing on her plate. Mackinnon's new EP Savour, that she spent the majority of the year working on with west-coast writer-producers Winston Hauschild and Troy Samson is now available everywhere. You can hear three of the new songs in the Hallmark movie The Perfect Bride.
