Red Bird Pick: one artist will be selected each night to perform a third song at the end of the evening
No Shows: if your name is called, and you are not around to play we will draw from the hat for your replacement 
Two Draws: we will do one draw at 8pm to see who plays in the first half of the evening, then a second draw at 9pm to see who plays in the second half
Prizes: anyone who attends a Tuesday Open Stage will have the opportunity to enter their name in a draw to win prizes such as Red Bird Merch, concert and event tickets and Red Bird Gift Cards. The more you attend, the greater your chance of winning.

Slow Leaves is the project of Winnipeg’s Grant Davidson.
He writes songs about the vulnerability of being a human, returning often to themes of love, loss, death, connection, loneliness, family, memory, and time. His folk and psych-rock inclinations, though rooted in the tradition of former fingerpicking songwriters, are unbound in today’s post-genre landscape. “I don’t write sad songs, I write lonely songs,” he muses regarding his last record, In Solitude, For Company. It’s within this honesty of expression that listeners have found comfort in knowing that none of us are truly alone in our thoughts, that beauty reveals itself in vulnerability, that poetry lives in the most banal of moments. He has been nominated for several Western Canadian Music Awards and won Songwriter of the Year in 2022.
On his newest release and sixth Slow Leaves album of new material, The Ruins of Things Unfinished, Davidson explores his thoughts on ambition and the long setting sun of a life dedicated to art and family. “I’ve somehow made a career of self-perceived failure,” he writes. “I’ve often reflected on whether that mindset fulfills its own prophecy: quite possibly. But I think at heart, I’m not seeking greatness, at least not outside my own little world. Or maybe I’ve simply given up on misplaced ambitions. My ambition now is a life of greatness in small spaces, a private fame in close quarters, a life so intimate it need only whisper its declarations of love and victory.”
The Ruins of Things Unfinished was released in May 2026 on Birthday Cake Records and Make My Day in G/S/A and Benelux.
 
James Leclaire is a Canadian based singersongwriter who mixes folk, rock, classic country, roots, and blues to conjure up his own unique style of storytelling. Although his music often pulls from the hardships of life, whether it be relationships, addictions, inner demons, or depression, his gravely voice cuts a deep feeling of hope and determination. Whether his songs are layered thick with allegories and metaphors or straightforward and direct, James’ songs resonate relatability and realism.
James recorded 38 songs from 2020-2023 at Bova Sound with Phillip Victor Bova producing. It was here that James was finally able to take his music to the next level. For certain tracks, Phillip was able to bring on harmonicist Mickey Raphael (Nelson/Stapleton/Dylan), guitarist/mandolinist Kevin Breit (Norah Jones), drummer Ed Toth (Doobie Bros.) and Juno nominated pianist and guitarist John Fraser Findlay. 
 
James started releasing singles from these sessions monthly in August 2023. The first 10 compiled to become his 2024 album Come On In, the following 11 became 2025's Self Deconstruction, while the latest 10 singles formed his June 2026 album The Deal.

Cara Luft


Juno award winning singer-songwriter-musician Cara Luft is that rare artist steeped in folk and traditional roots music almost from birth, yet willing to alter the fabric, stretch the boundaries and fearlessly bend genres and styles.  A founding member of Canadian folk super-group The Wailin' Jennys and the brainchild behind Winnipeg's acclaimed powerhouse duo The Small Glories, Luft deserves her solid reputation as one of Canada’s finest live performers, armed with amazing tenacity, vision, energy and a contagious hilarity. To quote the roots magazine No Depression, “Luft has a rich tradition in folk music – it’s safe to assume that she knows her stuff – and upon listening it becomes quite clear that she is indeed a formidable songwriter and performer... [The] lovely Ms. Luft sets the bar for the talented few who’ll follow in her footsteps.”  
Cara has a spirit that drives her to connect with people, and for this she is loved everywhere she goes. Reviewers of her live shows talk about her compelling vocals, superb musicianship, humorous anecdotes, accomplished songwriting, ability to switch between styles and the charm of her stage presence. Canadian fiddle champions Jane & Kyle return to Red Bird with special guests Alanna Jenish (guitar, step dance) and Tyson Chen (piano). Renowned for their lush twin fiddle harmonies and high-energy arrangements, Jane & Kyle will share newly composed tunes never performed live before, alongside old favourites from their previous two albums. 
 
Jane Cory, a Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Champion, and Kyle Burghout, a North American Irish Fiddle Champion, combine award-winning musicianship with an engaging and heartfelt stage presence. Rooted in the fiddling traditions of Manitoba and the Ottawa Valley, their music is shaped by these influences while embracing inspiration from Cape Breton, Ireland, and their travels around the world. The result is a distinctive blend of tradition and originality that feels both deeply grounded and refreshingly contemporary.
 


Jane and Kyle

Noah Derksen writes songs the way some people keep journals — honestly, tenderly, and with a curiosity for the way people move through the world. Moving between Winnipeg, Montreal, Nashville, and life on the road, he’s a wanderer with his feet on the ground and his head in the sky, always listening closely to the stories unfolding around him.His fourth album, Mercy on the Skyline (May 2026 via AWAL), is a luminous and reflective collection of songs about healing, self-discovery, and finding quiet strength. These songs come from the motion of everyday life — packing up boxes, riding the bus, chatting up strangers, driving away from a city (and a love) for the last time. In Noah’s hands, even the small details flicker with meaning, pointing toward the mercy waiting just over the horizon.Warmly suspended between folk, country, and indie, Noah’s music is fearless in its sincerity. His voice carries both intimacy and reach — the kind of voice that feels like it knows you, and sings for you. 
“Life is about being in community,” Noah says, “and I want my music to be a reflection of that.” Mercy on the Skyline embodies this spirit, recorded live in a room with a backbone of Winnipeg’s finest musicians and joined by some of Noah's longtime musical heroes — Lori McKenna, May Erlewine, and FONTINE.
