SYNOPSIS:
Rebellion is nigh in Matilda Jr., a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination!  This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the "revolting children" who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers!  She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey.  Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules.  But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace (synopsis from www.mtishows.com).
Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical Jr. is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).  All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.

Theatre doors open 30 minutes before showtime. 
This musical is suitable for audience members of all ages.
Run time is approximately 1 hour.

FALL 2026 YOUTH DRAMA COURSE DESCRIPTION:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Course Description: Interested in developing your acting and speech arts skills?  Don't have enough time to commit to our performance-based musical theatre course?  This is the course for you!  Students will participate in drama activities and games and learn repertoire to help them develop skills in drama and speech arts including improvisation, poetry, prose, mime, and scene work. 
Who: This course is for participants ages 8 to 16 years old (as of September 9, 2026).  No prior theatre experience is required.  
Where: Classes take place at the Swamp Donkey Theatre in Bragg Creek.
When: Classes take place on Wednesday evenings from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. 
Classes start on September 9 and end on December 9, 2026 (12 classes in total).
Note there are no classes on the following dates:

October 14, 2026 (A Taste of Things to Come Tech Rehearsal)
October 21, 2026 (A Taste of Things to Come Performance)
November 18, 2026 (Matilda Jr. Tech Rehearsal)

Requisite Forms: Participants must complete the requisite youth forms in order to participate in the course.  Students are NOT permitted to participate until ALL forms are submitted.
