SYNOPSIS:
A Taste of Things to Come is a laugh-out-loud, fabulously fun romp that celebrates the friendships of four very different women.  There was a time when the kitchen was a proving ground for women, a time when cooking up a tasty casserole garnered the same respect as being the CEO of Sears.  In 1957, four women see an opportunity to make their mark and enter a Betty Crocker Cooking Contest in hopes of changing their lives.  When they meet up again in 1967, what they get is more than what they bargained for… just a little taste of things to come (synopsis from www.concordtheatricals.com).

FALL 2026 YOUTH DRAMA COURSE DESCRIPTION:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Course Description: Interested in developing your acting and speech arts skills?  Don't have enough time to commit to our performance-based musical theatre course?  This is the course for you!  Students will participate in drama activities and games and learn repertoire to help them develop skills in drama and speech arts including improvisation, poetry, prose, mime, and scene work. 
Who: This course is for participants ages 8 to 16 years old (as of September 9, 2026).  No prior theatre experience is required.  
Where: Classes take place at the Swamp Donkey Theatre in Bragg Creek.
When: Classes take place on Wednesday evenings from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. 
Classes start on September 9 and end on December 9, 2026 (12 classes in total).
Note there are no classes on the following dates:

October 14, 2026 (A Taste of Things to Come Tech Rehearsal)
October 21, 2026 (A Taste of Things to Come Performance)
November 18, 2026 (Matilda Jr. Tech Rehearsal)

Requisite Forms: Participants must complete the requisite youth forms in order to participate in the course.  Students are NOT permitted to participate until ALL forms are submitted.

With our friends at Phillips Brewing, and presented by our media partners Victoria Taste Buds and Chek News, Picklefest is coming to Victoria for the first time! Featuring 35+ vendors offering all things pickled and fermented with fully licensed beverage selections and live music.
This is an all-ages event. Kids 12 and under are free with a ticket-holding guardian.

VIP Early Access gets you in one hour early (10:00 am), ahead of the crowds. It lets you skip the line, shop in peace, and meet the vendors before it gets busy!

Early bird VIP pricing: $24.95 + fees
Regular VIP pricing: $34.95 + fees

General Admission allows you to access the entire event as early as 11:00 am.

Q: Are there Early Bird tickets?A: Yes—when available. Early Bird is limited quantity and can sell out fast. Once they’re gone, General Admission continues until we hit capacity.
 
Q: What’s the difference between Early Bird and General Admission?A: Same Picklefest experience— except Early Bird gets you a slightly better price.  We have a limited number of Early Bird tickets available.
 
Q: Do tickets include food and drinks? Is there re-fillable water available?A: Your ticket covers event entry. Food and drinks are available for purchase from our vendors and bars. There will be plenty of vendors where you can purchase meals. Be sure to bring an empty water bottle to fill up at our water stations.
 
Q: What does VIP include?A: VIP gets you in an hour early, ahead of the lines and lets you shop & meet the makers / vendors ahead of the crowds.
 
Q: Are tickets sold at the door?A: If the event isn’t sold out, we’ll have limited door tickets. Capacity is real—buy ahead to guarantee entry.
 
Q: Can I get a refund if I can’t go?A: No—tickets are final sale. 
 
Q: Do I need to print my ticket?A: Nope—mobile scan is perfect. Just have the QR code ready.

Q: Can I leave and re-enter?A: No re-entry is permitted. Once you're in, you're in! 
 
Q: What can’t I bring?A: No outside alcohol, weapons, illegal substances, professional photography/videography equipment or anything the venue prohibits. Bags may be checked at entry.

Slow Leaves
Slow Leaves is the project of Winnipeg’s Grant Davidson. He writes songs about the vulnerability of being a human, returning often to themes of love, loss, death, connection, loneliness, family, memory, and time. His folk and psych-rock inclinations, though rooted in the tradition of former fingerpicking songwriters, are unbound in today’s post-genre landscape. “I don’t write sad songs, I write lonely songs,” he muses regarding his last record, In Solitude, For Company. It’s within this honesty of expression that listeners have found comfort in knowing that none of us are truly alone in our thoughts, that beauty reveals itself in vulnerability, that poetry lives in the most banal of moments. He has been nominated for several Western Canadian Music Awards and won Songwriter of the Year in 2022.
On his newest release and sixth Slow Leaves album of new material, The Ruins of Things Unfinished, Davidson explores his thoughts on ambition and the long setting sun of a life dedicated to art and family. “I’ve somehow made a career of self-perceived failure,” he writes. “I’ve often reflected on whether that mindset fulfills its own prophecy: quite possibly. But I think at heart, I’m not seeking greatness, at least not outside my own little world. Or maybe I’ve simply given up on misplaced ambitions. My ambition now is a life of greatness in small spaces, a private fame in close quarters, a life so intimate it need only whisper its declarations of love and victory.” The Ruins of Things Unfinished comes out in May 2026 on Birthday Cake Records and Make My Day in G/S/A and Benelux.
 
 
The Bishop Boys are a singer/songwriter duo from Windsor, Ontario, whose sound blends indie-rock with jazz and R&B. Trademark unison vocals, sharp lyricism, and warm, guitar-driven arrangements carry songs about love, heartbreak, and nostalgia.
 Austin Di Pietro and Andrew Adoranti met in high school and started writing together almost immediately, drawing on shared roots in jazz and wide-ranging musical tastes. After five years developing their sound privately, they expanded into a full 9-piece live band, selling out venues and playing festivals across Windsor-Essex.
 Their 2018 debut single "Might Be Alright" and 2020 Pelee Island EP built out a catalogue of Canadian indie-rock. When the pandemic shut down live shows, they kept writing — releasing singles in August 2020 and February 2021. The latter, "Dark Days," picked up attention from local and international media for its pandemic-era subject matter and video, and landed in the top 100 of CBC Music's Toyota Searchlight 2021 Contest out of more than 2,400 entries.
 Di Pietro and Adoranti are also university-trained musicians and established session players in Windsor, working across various local projects and theatrical productions.
 Their debut full-length album, Old Friends, Brief Ends, was released June 3, 2022.
