In African traditions, musicians are healers. Playing music to benefit the people is a fundamental value in our musical culture, therefore when you are playing music, you need to be conscious of how you are affecting people. Musicians who are trained the traditional way are specifically trained to be aware of their role, because they can heal or hurt! Their role is to ensure the well-being of the people in their community, and it is never taken lightly.

You will be touched by the healing vibration of the drums.

This tradition has been preserved across Latin America by the descendants of former slaves, who use dance and drumming to heal, celebrate and connect to their African roots and to one another. You don't need to dance to benefit from the healing power of the drum, you just need to be there when it happens.

Come, this evening is for YOU!
