Riversdale Chinatown: Launch Party

In collaboration with The 525, the Riversdale Chinatown team is pleased to present an official kickoff fundraising dinner for Saskatoon’s art lovers.

The Project Riversdale Chinatown aims to revitalize Saskatoon’s historic Chinatown in Riversdale through a combination of public art installations, community programming, and archival research. We are committed to creating a vibrant and inclusive space that celebrates Chinatown's rich history and culture while facilitating discussions reflecting the past, rethinking the present, and imagining the future of Chinatown for all Saskatoonians.

Join us for a delicious Lunar New Year-inspired feast featuring traditional Chinese dishes! Our goal is to raise $10,000 to secure a temporary community, culture, and art space in Riversdale. This will serve as our hub for community-based arts and culture activations, with a launch date scheduled for late May to early June 2025.

• Location: Dragon Emperor Restaurant, 129 Ave I South
• Public Open House: 2:00pm - 5:00pm

  • Experience an exhibit showcasing our identity design and archival stories about Saskatoon’s Chinatown and the Chinese community.
  • Snacks will be provided.
• Fundraising Dinner: 6:30pm - 10:00pm
  • Attend the official introduction of our project and learn about our goals and plans.
  • Enjoy our first program featuring the archival stories of Mr. Alan Chung, a self-made glass artist who records his journey with glass works.
  • Savor a delectable Chinese dinner served round-table style, with a selection of beverages (no outside food or drinks permitted). 9-course New Years-inspired Feast!
  • Mingle and connect with fellow art and community enthusiasts from Saskatoon.
