Description

Ribbon Skirt Workshop

Event Date: April 25-26
Event Time: Saturday: 11 am-5 pm | Sunday: 10 am-5 pm
Cost: $150 (+ fees)
Ages: 16+

The ribbon skirt has become popular with Indigenous Peoples and allies across Turtle Island, serving as a symbol of womanhood, strength, and personal artistic expression.

In this 2-day workshop, create your own one-of-a-kind ribbon skirt with instruction from Elder Linda Johnston and Knowledge Keeper Germaine LeRat. Lean the history behind the modern ribbon skirt — a collaboration that blends European-style cloth with Indigenous artistry — and sew a ribbon skirt from scratch with step-by-step instruction.

All materials are provided, including sewing machines. Participants are expected to have some experience with sewing and operating a sewing machine.
