Description
Rhythm of the People Music & Arts Festival is an Indigenous-led 4-day event presented by Indigenous Resilience in Music, in partnership with Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre.
From August 13 - 16, 2020, we’ll be hosting indoor and outdoor stages in Moh’kinstsis, in the heart of Calgary’s East Village, very near to where the Elbow meets the Bow. This specific area is the traditional, and regular meeting place of all tribes within Treaty 7 territory, including the Blackfoot Confederacy, consisting of the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani First Nations, the Îyâxe (Stoney) Nakoda, made up of the Chiniki, Wesley, and Bearspaw First Nations, and the Sarcee, Tsuut’ina First Nation. We acknowledge that these prairies and foothills are also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, and to all people of Treaty 7.
Our Rhythm of the People Music & Arts Festival will also feature a major visual arts component. Curated in partnership with TRUCK Contemporary Art, we’ll be featuring a resident festival visual-artists free to express themselves in a decolonized arts space.
