Reeny Smith is a powerhouse on the stage and in the studio. A songwriter, musician and producer, Reeny delivers magic every time she hits the stage. Her extraordinary vocals, confident presence and energetic live show make for a truly unforgettable, entertainment experience.  

Reeny is a multi-ECMA and Music Nova Scotia award winner. She was named to the Top 10 of CBC’s national Searchlight in 2020. She appeared in Neptune Theatre’s live performance series; hosted the Chamber of Commerce Business Awards in Halifax; was featured, along with sister Mahalia, in Symphony Nova Scotia’s Fusion series; and headlined festival shows in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. She wowed audiences at Halifax’s Scotiabank Centre as part of the SuperNova Celebration show in November followed by a star turn at the prestigious Women In Blues Revue at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto. In December Reeny toured to sold-out houses throughout the Maritimes in concert with Matt Andersen.  

The Sanctified Brothers

For Wallace Smith, music has always been a fact of life. "I was sort of born into it," explains Smith, a member of the North Preston soul gospel group The Sanctified Brothers. "I don't think there's ever a day that went by in the whole time I've been alive that singing hasn't taken place in the family home."

The Sanctified Brothers electrify crowds today with their deep, layered harmonies, spirited stage presence and tendency to flit between songs and feverish crowd-pleasing banter. The band's popularity should come as no surprise, because Smith's musical roots run deep. Growing up he was surrounded by a rotating cast of local music legends: practically everyone in his North Preston circle played music. As a child his father, Rev. Wallace Smith Sr.—pastor at North Preston's Saint Thomas United Baptist Church and a member of The Sanctified Brothers—often hosted band practices at their home with his group at the time, The Rockin' Rebels. His bandmates included the likes of Bucky Adams—who during his lifetime shared the stage with BB King and Louis Armstrong—and the late Kenny Clattenburg, drummer in the Dutch Mason Trio.

Reeny Smith est une véritable pile électrique sur scène et en studio. Auteur-compositeur, musicienne et productrice, Reeny est magique à chaque fois qu'elle monte sur scène. Pour Wallace Smith, la musique a toujours fait partie de la vie. " Je suis en quelque sorte né dedans ", explique Smith, membre du groupe de gospel soul de North Preston, The Sanctified Brothers. "Je ne pense pas qu'il y ait eu un jour, depuis que je suis en vie, où l'on ne chantait pas dans la maison familiale".

Les Sanctified Brothers électrisent les foules aujourd'hui avec leurs harmonies profondes et stratifiées, leur présence fougueuse sur scène et leur tendance à passer d'une chanson à une plaisanterie fiévreuse pour la foule. La popularité du groupe ne devrait pas surprendre, car les racines musicales de Smith sont profondes. En grandissant, il a été entouré d'un groupe de légendes locales de la musique : pratiquement tout le monde dans son entourage de North Preston jouait de la musique. Lorsqu'il était enfant, son père, le révérend Wallace Smith Sr, pasteur de l'église baptiste unie Saint Thomas de North Preston et membre du groupe The Sanctified Brothers, organisait souvent des répétitions chez lui avec son groupe de l'époque, The Rockin' Rebels. Parmi ses compagnons d'orchestre figuraient des gens comme Bucky Adams - qui, de son vivant, a partagé la scène avec BB King et Louis Armstrong - et le regretté Kenny Clattenburg, batteur du Dutch Mason Trio.
