Rapid Fire Theatre Auditions

This is the place to sign up for auditions to Rapid Fire Theatre's 26/27 Rookie Improv Ensemble!

What's the audition for?
The Rookie tier is a probationary, entry-level tier of the Rapid Fire improv ensemble. Rapid Fire Theatre is Edmonton's longest running improv theatre company and we call the Rapid Fire Exchange our home. We perform over 400 shows each season.

The Rookie Tier is mostly unpaid (professional opportunities are available to higher tier performers). Participation in the rookie tier includes playing in the Free Improv portion of our weekly Friday night Theatresports shows, and frequent involvement in other shows & festivals throughout our season as well. Rookie performers also receive many free workshop and developmental opportunities to hone your improv skills.

The rookie probationary term is one season (September to July). After one season in the rookie tier, you may be invited to join the main ensemble. If you are not invited to join the main ensemble after one year, you are also welcome to reapply for the rookie ensemble the following season. Participation beyond one season is not guaranteed.

Who are we looking for?
Rapid Fire Theatre seeks Edmonton's most exciting improv talent! While many auditionees have experience in our youth programs, workshops, or with other established companies, we welcome all exceptional improvisers. Rapid Fire is committed to building an ensemble that reflects Edmonton's diverse population, actively encouraging performers of all races, genders, ages, body types, and abilities to audition. We're looking for improvisers with exceptional skills, a passion for our signature fast-paced style, and a generous, playful spirit, who will contribute to a strong, collaborative ensemble.

What happens at the audition?
Auditions happen in groups of no more than 22 people at a time and all-in are about 2 hours in length. We'll do a group warm-up together, and then the group will be split into smaller groups to improvise some scenes together. After we do a few rounds of improvised scenes, there will be a brief opportunity for mingling and questions.

Where?

Auditions will be held at the Rapid Fire Exchange (10437 83 Ave). The venue is highly accessible, and close to bike & bus routes.

Auditions will be held on:
Sunday July 19, 11:00am to 1:00pm
Sunday July 19, 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Sunday July 19, 5:00pm to 7:00pm

Spots are first come, first served, and spaces are limited.
