Ever wanted to learn more about Calgary's rich queer history?

Join Historian Kevin Allen on a walk through downtown and hear the stories of Calgary's underground LGBTQ2S+ community. 

Tickets: $50 + tax and applicable fees.

At 11AM you'll meet Kevin at The Beltliner (243 12th Avenue SW) and be greeted with a coffee and pastry before starting the tour, which lasts for approximately one hour. Following this, you'll enjoy a special pride brunch from The Beltliner, including a mimosa, caesar or popsicle cocktail. 

This event is a fundraiser for #OURPRIDE - supporting Calgary Pride 2020.

MORE ABOUT KEVIN ALLEN

Kevin has been documenting and profiling queer people and events for 25 years through freelance writing and editing for various queer publications including: Clue! Magazine, QC Magazine, Xtra! West, and Xtra.ca.  He is a career arts administrator and the past Executive Director of the Alberta Media Arts Alliance (AMAAS). He has previously worked for the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF), NUTV, and the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts.

Kevin has a Masters Degree in Public Administration, specializing in non-profit management, from the University of Victoria.  Additionally Kevin works as a senior election official for both Elections Canada and Elections Alberta.

Finally, Kevin has created some local queer history himself, as a founder of Calgary’s now largest queer non-profit organization, the Fairy Tales Presentation Society, which produces many cultural events including the very successful Calgary Queer Arts Society every year in May.
