Description
Here in time for Pride, Sappho’s Isle is breaking it’s hiatus just for the Sapphics!
Grab your pride flags and come celebrate Pride at Victoria's only all-Sapphic burlesque show. The first Pride was a riot and we are here to uphold that tradition. Come and indulge in an evening of revolution, revelry and, of course, all things Sapphic.
The show will take place July 5 at The Other Guise (716 Johnson Street), doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Discounted Early Bird tickets are on sale until June 15 for $25, and $35 after that. VIP tickets are $40, which include reserved seating in the first two rows.
Pride at Sappho's Isle is burlesque variety show put on by Ink Splatters Productions, a queer-focused production company started by Missy Ink.
The show will feature Holly Shirt, Khushi, Stella Cans, Rani Riot, Charlie Chapstick, Your Royal Hiney and Missy Ink, hosted by Wander Lost. There will also be local Sapphic vendors.
The show will run approximately two hours, with 8 acts and a 15 minute intermission. There will be a tip number, which will go to a communal tip pool. You now have the option to tip via cash or card!
Accessibility
716 Johnson Street is a fully ground-level, step-free venue with automated entry doors featuring both foot-level and waist-height activation buttons. The main performance and lounge space is flat throughout, allowing easy movement for wheelchairs and mobility aids.
There is one gender-neutral, wheelchair-accessible washroom on the main floor with handrails and a lowered sink. Additional gender-neutral washrooms are located upstairs and are not accessible. The bar counter is approximately 4 feet high; staff are happy to come around the bar to assist with orders .
We aim to create a welcoming space for artists and audiences of all abilities. Shows vary in floor plans and seating can be arranged upon request. If you require accommodations such as early entry, a quieter space, assistance navigating the venue, or another support, please contact us in advance and we will do our best to accommodate.
Lighting levels, sound volume, and crowd density may vary depending on the event. Support workers and personal care attendants are welcome at no additional charge, however, please let us know in advance so that we can include them in our capacity count.
Service animals are welcome throughout the venue.
This show will take place on the unceded and unsurrendered lands of the Lkwungen-speaking people of the Songhees and Kosapsum Nations. These Indigenous peoples have been on this land since time immemorial and are still here today. Most of us are uninvited guests here on this land and it is a great privilege we have to be able to create here.
Ink Splatters strives to be a safe and inclusive space for all people and to produce shows that are representative of the beautiful diversity in our community. We committed to creating a sex positive, anti-racist, queer-friendly, body positive and accessible environment at my shows. Performers and audience members will also be held to these standards so that anyone can come into this space and enjoy the art that is being put on stage.
