Description

Sunday, November 17, 2024 // 4:30pm // Doors and sign up 4pm

FREE/PWYC cash at the door

Join host Raymond Helkio for some of Toronto’s most daring, dazzling, and saucy poets with featured artists Noorleena Ilham (Leena) + Corrina Oregon! This is an all-ages, PWYC, licensed event, photographed and timed by Jordyn. Open mic slots are 3 minutes, sign up at the door.

Noorleena Ilham (Leena), a Toronto-based poet and spoken word artist hailing from India, has been honing her craft since childhood. Her prolific work spans both print and digital media in India, encompassing radical, emotive, and politically charged themes. She expresses herself predominantly through free verse, crafting a unique voice that resonates with diverse audiences globally.

Corrina Oregon is a Toronto based poet who loves to write in order to get gunk out of her brain. She loves exploring big emotions and diving deep into the tough stuff when it comes to her writing foundation. Her day job is peer support in the mental health field. She is currently looking to self publish a collection of poems, but you can find her writing at haunting_this_dimension on instagram. Fun fact, she has a 3 year old weiner dog named Kali after the goddess of death and destruction but also rebirth and life.

Like its ambisextrous namesake, Buddies’ in-house bar and performance space Tallulah’s Cabaret does it all. It’s throbbing club nights and community tap dance lessons. High-concept drag and low-stakes open mics. Go for pre-drinks but stay late for the post-show discourse—maybe even spark that next collaboration. With local brews and sober options that aren’t an after-thought, Tallulah’s is the come-as-you-are bar for old friends, new lovers, partiers, poets, and curious passerby. See you under the chandeliers.
Tallulah’s Cabaret is open Wednesday to Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to midnight (or later).
