Description
Following a successful Toronto run, this indie comedic horror play critics have called “deliciously lurid” comes to Sudbury for the first time!
SYNOPSIS: From the mind of Garrett (M. Ryan) Abrams, Pigeon! follows John, an outcast in North York, desperate to escape his isolation. Living in the shadow of the Holocaust and burdened by an inherited weight he cannot define, he takes fate into his own hands, building himself a companion, no matter the cost. But as his creation takes shape, John is forced to confront the horrors lurking beneath his own skin. A darkly surreal tale of loneliness, obsession, and the things we destroy in our search for connection.
At Bird On Stage, we create outsider theatre for outsider audiences, bold, unconventional, and unapologetically different. We are proudly Northern Ontarian, Torontonian, and Jewish-led. Bird On Stage was born out of a belief that stories, raw, risky, messy stories, are how we survive. We are a scrappy, independent company made up of outsiders, misfits, neurodivergent thinkers, and emerging artists who never quite fit the mold. And so we built our own.
We’re here to make the kind of theatre that doesn’t apologize. Theatre that gets under your skin and stays there. The kind that makes people laugh unexpectedly, cry openly, and whisper “me too” in the dark.
We produce bold, boundary-pushing stories that don’t always get told about mental health, grief, queerness, generational wounds, religion, gender identity, class, loneliness, rage, hope. We offer a space where artists and audiences alike can come as they are messy, complicated, beautiful and belong.
