Description
Magdalena von Eccher, Max Keenlyside, and Glen Montgomery will present a program accentuating the instinsic beauty and power of the piano. All three are known for their artistic abilities, and this concert will show off everything they can do.
Glen Montgomery is one of Canada’s dynamic musicians, recognized for his years of passionate dedication to performing, teaching, lecturing and composing. Glen’s concerts have taken him on tours of Russia, USA, Australia, Iceland, Italy, Japan, France and of course, Canada, featuring an extensive and diverse solo and concerto repertoire. Broadcasts on PBS, CBC, Radio Canada, Belarus and Icelandic TV and radio as well as recordings on Analekta, have received numerous awards. Lynn Harrell, Nina Beilina, James Campbell, Carol Neblett, Denis Brott, Frances Ginzer, Blaine Hendsbee, the Orford Quartet, Jose Luis Garcia, and Magdalena von Eccher are just a few of the great artists with whom he has played on tour and at chamber music festivals in Ottawa, Montréal and especially the Festival of the Sound.
Lauded for his skills as a ragtime and traditional jazz pianist, Max Keenlyside has performed for CBC and has headlined at festivals across North America. A graduate of the Holland College School of Performing Arts, Max went on to study classical and jazz piano at Mount Allison University. Max’s debut album, KeenlyStride, was met with critical acclaim and his second release, Mostly Max, puts an emphasis on his own piano compositions. His latest release is Invincible Syncopations, featuring the piano solo works of Vincent Matthew Johnson.
Magdalena is among Canada’s most respected musicians, appreciated for her genuine warmth, dedication, and artistic sensibility. Praised for presentations as soloist, in chamber music, and with orchestra, she astonishes her colleagues and audiences alike with powerful, memorable interpretations; her musical communication is always personal, poetic, and of the highest artistic calibre.
