The UP Madrigal Singers
For over fifty years, the UP Madrigal Singers has garnered global acclaim, winning prestigious choral competitions and pioneering Filipino choral artistry worldwide under the guidance of founder Professor Andrea O. Veneracion. Fondly known as the Madz, they've served as ambassadors of goodwill, performing for influential leaders like Popes, Presidents, and Royalty. Their unique semi-circle setup without a conductor, combined with a vast repertoire and emotional impact, has solidified their status as choral music pioneers.
Beyond performance excellence, the Madz fosters a love for choral singing, inspiring the establishment of choirs through alumni networks like Madz Et Al. They've spearheaded outreach programs, workshops, and even established a music studio, democratizing access to choral education. Under Mark Anthony Carpio's leadership, they continue to champion choral development nationwide.
From prestigious venues to local communities, the Madz's mission transcends mere performance, aiming to make choral music socially relevant and transformative. Their dedication has earned them recognition as UNESCO Artists for Peace, embodying the power of music to unite and uplift humanity.
