The West Coast Cuban Orchestra is back with The Night of Afro-Latin Rhythms, an event created to appreciate the roots of Cuban, Latin American and Caribbean music, and defending the exposure of the most popular rhythms of these regions, in which the African influence is crucial with an essential roll of the percussion instruments.
The rhythm has always been the most important element of Afro-Latin music, which in many cases acquired a symbolic meaning like in Afro-Cuban, Afro-Peruvian, Caribbean, Colombian or Brazilian music, but our purpose is not to make it all sound complex, instead just getting you intrigued with the culture of these regions in a fun way, by making you feeling it on your body and express it with your dance moves. A dance instructor will offer you a class and make sure you are well guided before the band starts.
Some of the rhythms that The West Coast Cuban Orchestra will be playing includes Salsa and Son from Cuba, Cumbia from Colombia, Bachata and merengue from Dominican Republic, Festejo from Peru, Plena from Puerto Rico, Samba from Brazil, and much more! We’ll dedicate the very last piece of each set of the show to a jam session where any musician or student in the audience interested in experiencing this music from the stage to be able to try it out!
Join us at this Afro-Latin night full of the richness and the high energy that only live music can provide, to let rhythm and dance to be an essential part of your life!
