Description

Open Mic(helle) is running a special marathon bucket mic & showcase, to raise money for future Open Mic(helle) nights and we need you there!

Since December 2024, Community Clowns has been running Open Mic(helle), a friendly room for under-represented voices in comedy, a space for comedians to try out new jokes, work on their sets, and an extra safe space for people to try stand-up comedy for the first time. Since then, we've hosted 20 Open Mic(helle) nights, produced a showcase at Fates Fest 2026, and ran a few comedy workshops too! These events have helped us connect to so many amazing comedians, and more importantly, connected these comedians to each other. The popularity of these events is a testament to how needed a space like this is for the community!

Any money we've made from these events has been put right back into running more of these events, and we'd like to enlist the help of our amazing community to level up! We want to throw more events, bigger events, with more spots for performers, writing workshops, maybe even writing retreats. Our ambitions and dreams are endless. Our funds are not.

Little Mountain Gallery has generously granted us access to the Raccoon Room all day. We will be doing a showcase and bucket open mic. Sign up begins at 7, and you put your name into a bucket. Once the show begins, you will see 10-minute sets from some of our regulars, interspersed with 4-minute sets from community members whose names are drawn at random.

Since the show is 3 hours long, everyone is welcome to come whenever and leave whenever, but the longer you stay, the more chances you get to throw your name in the bucket again and increase your chances of being drawn. Every 20 dollars you donate will also get you one guaranteed spot at a future Open Mic(helle) of your choosing!

If this all sounds complicated, don't worry! All will be explained the day of the event. Just bring yourself, your friends, and 4 minutes of your material, and sign up like you always do!

It'll be a fun night. It'll be a long night, and hopefully it'll help us keep Open Mic(helle) going stronger than ever, for the community, by the community!

This show will be presented in the Raccoon Room (Second floor).

This show is produced and curated under a rental model, independent of Little Mountain Gallery. If you have questions or comments on this performance please contact the producer at aryafsharm@gmail.com

Accessibility

Please note that the venue has two separate spaces, upstairs and downstairs. All show listings should indicate which room they’re in on the description. Please ensure you note the location as both spaces do not have the same level of accessibility.

The front entrance has power assisted doors.

There’s a powered lift from street level to the main performance space. For more information on the limitations of our lift, please check out our website.

The venue has six private washrooms on the main floor, one of which is fully accessible with a power assisted door. The theatre doors to the main space are not power assisted at this time. The second floor is not accessible and is up two flights of stairs.

We encourage patrons requiring wheelchair seating message us ahead of performances so we can arrange seating at niki@littlemountaingallery.ca
