Old Songs, New Year 今晚老派一點

爺爺奶奶的隨意哼唱，承載著當時的回憶；
收音機裡重複播放的歌曲，記錄著父母的青春；
經典歌曲是跨世代的共同語言，述說著每一個時期的故事，也成為當代年輕人致敬與創作的靈感源泉。

在農曆新年期間，沉浸在加拿大台裔歌手樂凡(Van Lefan)的歌聲中， 一起走進華語經典的音樂時光！

七〇年代的清新民歌，八〇年代的多元發展，九〇年代的流行音樂巔峰，樂凡將復刻翻唱不同時期的華語金曲，重新演繹跨世代的旋律，賦予經典新的生命。藉由演唱華語音樂，樂凡重新連結自己的文化，透過音樂會也期望持續激勵加拿大年輕音樂人，重拾母語創作的熱情。

除了在音樂中聽見世代的連結之外，現場特別邀請來自台灣、知名越南料理廚房「小夏天」創辦人暨跨國界料理實踐者Josie Chang，帶來獨具風格的台灣與越南fusion料理，跨文化碰撞激發味蕾上的全新刺激，從美食喚起不同文化與世代的記憶。

今晚，來點老派一點的音樂饗宴，以及改變想像的味覺實驗，共同慶祝這個深具意義、與眾不同的農曆新年。

 樂凡

台灣跨領域藝術家，活躍於聲音、舞蹈、劇場和視覺藝術之間。透過她的歌聲、吉他與長笛，她游走於民謠、流行與實驗音樂之中，創作出探討個人與集體經驗的歌曲。她的作品反映了日常生活中為尋找意義與神奇力量的存在主義思考，並為集體解放而祈禱。

她的首張專輯《What Holds Us Together?》（2022）是一場聲音旅程，融合民謠、流行、實驗音景與詩歌，織就一幅關於祖先、身份、生態尊重與社會正義的圖景。2023 年，樂凡在 What Lab 的駐地計劃中開發了《未寄出的信：給相關人士》（Unsent Letters: To Whom It May Concern），這是一個實驗性的劇場演出與裝置藝術，深入探討人際關係的循環本質、依附、記憶與潛意識，將於 2024 年秋季發行 EP。樂凡也從事劇場製作的聲音設計，並在 Lobe 空間聲音工作室擔任 4DSOUND 技術員。

Josie

台中越式料理餐廳「小夏天 petit été」的主理人，從銀行業轉行，因受室友影響而愛上越南料理。她多次前往越南旅行，並向當地媽媽學習料理，將越南飲食文化轉化為具有個人風格的越式料理，充滿浪漫情懷。經營的「小夏天」老宅餐廳保留了台灣老房子的特色，如磨石子地板和老櫥櫃，並以清新、少油膩的方式呈現越式料理，例如法國麵包和河粉。她也曾以食物外交的概念，透過料理將台灣和越南與國際建立文化連結。

These golden classics are a cross-generational language, telling the stories of each era and inspiring today’s young artists to pay tribute and create.

This Lunar New Year, immerse yourself in the voice of Taiwanese Canadian singer Van Lefan and Skywalker Choir, lead by Addison Wong, and journey through timeless c-pop classics!

From the fresh folk songs of the 1970s, to the diverse developments of the 1980s, and the peak of C-pop in the 1990s, Van Lefan revives and reinterprets beloved hits from each era, breathing new life into these cross-generational melodies. Through this performance, Van Lefan reconnects with her own cultural roots, and hopes this concert will inspire young Canadian musicians to embrace creating in their mother tongue.

The event will also feature Josie Chang, founder of Taiwan’s renowned Vietnamese kitchen “petit été” (Little Summer) and an international culinary practitioner. She will present uniquely styled Taiwanese-Vietnamese fusion dishes, where cross-cultural flavours spark exciting new sensations on the palate and awaken memories of different cultures and generations.

Let’s kick it back old school with some nostalgic tunes paired with imaginative culinary experiments, as we come together to celebrate a meaningful and truly unique Lunar New Year.

Van Lefan

Van Lefan (樂凡) is a Taiwanese interdisciplinary artist working between sound, movement, theatre, and visual arts. With her voice, guitar, flute, she moves between folk, pop, and experimental sound, writing songs that are inquiries into both personal and collective experiences. Her works serve as existential reflections on finding magic and purpose within the ordinary, and prayers for collective liberation.

Her debut album What Holds Us Together? (2022) is a sonic journey that synergizes folk, pop, experimental soundscapes and poetry, weaving a tapestry of ancestry, identity, ecological reverence and social justice. During her 2023 residency at What Lab, Lefan developed Unsent Letters: To Whom It May Concern, an experimental theatrical performance/installation, diving into the cyclical nature of interpersonal relationships, attachment, memories, and the subconscious. The five songs featured in this story are recorded, to be released as an EP in Fall 2024. In recent years, Lefan has performed at TAIWANfest Vancouver, Jade Music Fest, Dragon Boat Festival, Vines Arts Festival, Vancouver Mural Festival, and across Taiwan on a joint tour with Tennyson King in April 2024. She aslo works as a sound designer for theatre productions, and 4DSOUND technician at Lobe Spatial Sound Studio.

Skywalker - Addison Wong

Skywalker is a Vancouver-based pop choir formed in 2026, performing primarily in Cantonese and Mandarin. Mentored by Dino Acconci of Soler, the ensemble is shaped by folk- and rock-informed vocal techniques, with a strong focus on emotional expression and musical storytelling. Under the direction of music director Addison Wong, Skywalker brings together singers committed to artistic growth and collaborative music-making. Following an enthusiastic reception at their debut appearance at the Jade Music Festival, Skywalker continues to share performances defined by passion, musical richness, and refined craftsmanship.

Josie Chang

The founder and curator of Taichung-based Vietnamese restaurant petit été (Little Summer) began her career in the banking industry before discovering a deep love for Vietnamese cuisine, inspired by her roommate. Through multiple journeys to Vietnam, she learned directly from local home cooks and mothers, absorbing the everyday wisdom and warmth of Vietnamese food culture. She transforms these influences into Vietnamese-inspired dishes with a distinct personal touch, infused with a sense of romance and storytelling.

Housed in a lovingly preserved traditional Taiwanese home, Josie retains architectural details such as terrazzo flooring and vintage cabinets. Her cuisine is presented in a fresh, light, and refined style, emphasizing clean flavours and minimal oil—most notably in dishes like bánh mì and phở. Embracing the idea of food diplomacy, she uses cuisine as a bridge to connect Taiwan, Vietnam, and the wider world through shared cultural experience.
