ODE | Compagnie Catherine Gaudet

Inspired by pagan processions, eleven performers chant on stage, tirelessly repeating a choral chant that resembles an insistent prayer. The scene, at first inoffensive and naïve, gradually becomes more complex, culminating in an almost psychedelic, hallucinogenic effect.

With ODE, Catherine Gaudet transports us into a surreal, exalted universe, imbued with an extreme desire for harmony, coupled with palpable ambiguity. For this new creation, the choreographer offers an unclassifiable work, striking in its singularity, somewhere between sacrificial rite and pop-rock show.

Catherine Gaudet explores the complexity and ambiguity of the psyche and imprints its contradictions on the body. She portrays an elusive reality, developing a world made up of intersecting, fluctuating, and innumerable identities. Her dance is a journey into the self, an interpenetration of the deep layers that constitute beings destined for perpetual transformation. She created her first choreography in 2004. Since then, she has created eleven full-length works and several shorter pieces, presented both in Quebec and abroad. Catherine is currently the artistic and executive director of the Compagnie Catherine Gaudet, a member of Circuit-Est Centre Chorégraphique, an associate creator at DLD – Daniel Léveillé Danse, and an associate artist at Agora de la danse.
