A free and open-to-all challenge to create a sci-fi short in ten days and have it shown at our festival
Come see the results of our notorious film challenge! A free, open-to-all challenge to create a sci-fi short in nine days and have it shown at Nickel Independent Film Festival 2026.
The challenge: Make a sci-fi short film between June 11–21, 2026. Free, open to all, and not a contest. Finish a film and receive two free passes to the festival, happening June 22–28 at the LSPU Hall in St. John's. Sign up any time before the deadline at https://nickelfestival.com/challenges/diyscifi
Contact Information
Resource Centre for the Arts (RCA) operates from the historic LSPU Hall, affectionately referred to as The Hall – which houses a 172-192 seat theatre. The first floor has a bar and smaller performance space, Cox & Palmer Second Space.
Refund Policy
In place until further notice – subject to change. Refunds are only permitted in cases where the patron cannot attend due to illness. Refund requests must be made no later than 4 hours before the start of the show, after which no refunds will be permitted.
