claire rousay is based in San Antonio, Texas. Her music zeroes in on personal emotions and the minutiae of everyday life -- voicemails, haptics, environmental recordings, stopwatches, whispers and conversations -- exploding their significance.
Since 2018, NYC’s LEYA has occupied a space between many worlds, releasing work that equally encompasses beguiling Medieval song, modern folk, and their own classical-meets-pop language rooted in weird sensuality. The duo is anchored by harpist Marilu Donovan, who uses a unique tuning system designed for LEYA, while bandmate Adam Markiewicz blends operatic vocals in multiple languages with warm violin tones, centering on a sound that is instantly recognizable, otherworldly, and often uneasy. Their young catalog spans two albums, a collaborative-based mixtape, a porn, and a slew of other works.
V. Vecker is the pseudonym for Keith Wecker, a composer and multi-instrumentalist based out of Vancouver, BC, Canada. His solo compositions revolve around looped sax and synth while the Ensemble takes on a more compositional direction with the added instrumentation provided from the other musicians.
The fruit of a seed planted more than fifteen years prior, deth emerged in Vancouver during the summer of 2022. The intention: to create a work greater than the sum of its authors. The Subject: a multi-sensory
exploration of <<deth>>. Their performance debut at Rickshaw Theatre (July 2022) was met with popular acclaim by veterans of multiple Vancouver music communities and was subsequently released on film.
New Forms Festival 2022 finds deth presenting their second live performance. Stage left, a Mercurial performance artist; producer of “minimal synth-punk”, and “dance hall body music”. Their artistry has been featured both solo and as band leader throughout the punk, darkwave, EBM, and minimal wave worlds. Stage Right, an adept guitarist; recital soloist, composer, record producer, chamber musician, existentialist. Rumored forthcoming projects include an EP, international festivals, and a contemporary dance collaboration. deth to everything.
The event will take place at KW Studios, located at 111 Hastings St W.
Doors will open at 8:00 pm with performances starting at 8:30 pm.
The performance space and bathrooms within the venue are wheelchair accessible.
The venue is a 2 minute walk from bus stops on Hastings St. (R5, 014) and Cordova St. (003, 004, 007, N20, N35, 209, 210, 211, 214). and 5 min from Waterfront station (Skytrain, Canada Line).
