My folk dance of language and seed brings Rosanna Terracciano in duet with film projections of her mother and father. It explores the interplay and connection between her personal flamenco and her own cultural roots from Napoli. 

Different, but linked histories represent themselves in her body and her ways of moving. Dance, song, language, and hand gestures collide and shift—finding new ways of expression.

The duet is a development of an earlier work in Terracciano’s repertoire which was created with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Calgary Arts Development Authority, DJD Dance Centre Creative Residency Program (Calgary), Studio La Lola (Montréal) and ReLoCate (Calgary), and presented by Springboard Performance (Calgary)/National Arts Centre (Ottawa) online, Mile Zero Dance (Edmonton), Stream of Dance (Regina) and the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival.

Rosanna Terracciano is a professional dance artist for 20+ years. Originally from Calgary, Rosanna Terracciano experiments within and around the boundaries of flamenco, dance, contemporary performance and short film, driven by an urgency to expose the quiet and introverted aspects of all that surrounds and excites her in art and life. Central to her practice is the contradiction of being born and raised in Calgary, among and between the stillness of the Canadian prairies and the rough edges of the Rockies, but in a very Neapolitan household rooted in warmth and energy and the sea. Her solo performance works and short films have been presented throughout Canada and Europe, with notable performances including the Bienal de Flamenco (Sevilla, 2014), Coetani Experimental Flamenco Festival (Athens, 2015), Flamenco Empirico (Barcelona, 2011, 2012) and National Arts Centre online (Ottawa, 2021). Significant recent collaborations include choreographing/dancing in a music video for Calgary band Ghostkeeper (2025) and participating in creation and production periods in Hamburg (Germany, 2023), at the Dusseldorf Flamenco Festival (tanzhaus nrw, 2019) and at Barcelona’s house of dance, Mercat de les Flors (2019). She is the 2017 recipient of the Jacqueline Lemieux Prize for dance from the Canada Council for the Arts.
