Music & Yoga: Town of Kensington

Join us through the Kensington Music & Wellness Week to experience the power of yoga incorporating music lead by Cindy Gallant from LunaYoga PEI! Bring your own mat, towel, and water bottle. Yoga classes will be held outdoors if weather allows, and inside the St. Mary's Pavilion in case of bad weather. Each yoga class will be followed by a meditation session.

*Other Music & Yoga will be held outdoors at Historic St Mary's or indoors at the St. Mary's Pavilion if there is bad weather.*
 

Yoga classes accompanied by live music has been “documented that music and movement activities stimulate and engage the brain, improve coordination and physical abilities, strengthen social skills, and teach emotional expression in a healthy way”. LunaYoga will offer a variety of classes including some with more intense movement as well as gentle flow. We will match a different musician or genre of music to each class with some music fitting into what many might think of for traditional yoga classes, and some that will match with the movement and exercise of the class. This is to optimize cognitive connection with movement, associating the music individuals will hear with the movement they are making will help improve balance, coordination, memory, concentration and will even help individuals process pain and discomfort.

A full list of musicians for each yoga class will be added shortly, but for now each class will feature a mixture of solo instruments varying from guitar, celtic harp, and strings.
