Music Speaks Louder Than Words - Newfound Sound Women's A Cappella Chorus

 Newfound Sound is the only women's barbershop chorus in Newfoundland and Labrador. Established in 1985, we've been sharing friendship and song for 40 years. We have been proud members of Harmony Incorporated since 1988, an international, non-profit organization whose mission is to empower women through singing, education, and friendship. Newfound Sound offers a safe, supportive, inclusive environment for all who identify as female, or non-binary who sing in the treble range. We promote and sustain a sense of belonging, respecting the talents, beliefs, backgrounds, and lifestyles of our members and supporters.

Under the creative and energetic direction of Dr. Phil Roberts, we sing four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style, using a variety of music from traditional, pop, and inspirational genres. We regularly compete in the Atlantic region contest and whenever possible, attend international events. Newfound Sound has won numerous awards and trophies. We place great value in community support by singing for charities and nonprofit organizations and for many wonderful fundraisers, such as cancer support programs through Pink Days in Bloom, Daffodil Place and Sing for Care. We have performed at the Downtown Pedestrian Mall and Deck the Great Hall events for the City of St. John’s, and the NL Folk Festival & Canada Summer Games. We look forward to singing carols at the Commissariat House old fashioned Christmas as well as the Lieutenant Governor at Government House. We provide musical entertainment for public and private settings, including retirement homes, hospitals, community and corporate venues.
