Greater Moncton Highland Games & Scottish Festival

This year’s Greater Moncton Highland Games & Scottish Festival is an international affair, with the New Brunswick event acting as Host Games for the 2022 Scottish Masters Athletics International Masters World Championships (MWC).

The MWC features nearly 200 of the world’s best heavy events athletes, aged 40 and above, competing in various feats of strength on Saturday and Sunday. Amateur and other heavy event classes will compete on Friday. In addition to the MWC, the Moncton Highland Games also includes piping, drumming, pipe band, and Highland dance competitions, as well as agricultural, military, and cultural displays and dozens of workshops and demonstrations.

Highlights include:

• Honourary Chieftain Michael Yellowlees, the Scot who walked across Canada
• Music by The Barra MacNeils, the RCMP Pipes & Drums, American Rogues, & more
• Largest gathering of redheads east of Montreal, with a live taping of Authentic Ginger podcast
• A Gin Garden Party & two whisky tastings with The Whisky Lassie, Johanne McInnis
• Author Riel Nason reading her children’s book, Disaster at the Highland Games
• A Maritime Sword School Singlestick Competition
• Craft Beer & Spirits Market, featuring local, national, and international brands
