Modern Myths and Miracles

Kingston WritersFest welcomes award-winning novelists Colin McAdam and Anita Rau Badami to the stage where McAdam will share his latest novel, Daphnis and Chloe, a gritty, modern fable. Narrated by Eros, the story follows two abandoned babies raised on a dark Pacific island city. Badami presents the long-awaited Asha in Her Garden, a delightfully big-hearted novel that dips into family mysteries from the shade of an oddly insightful maple tree. 

Colin McAdam’s novels include Some Great Thing, Fall, A Beautiful Truth, and Black Dove. Fall was shortlisted for both the Scotiabank Giller Prize and the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize. A Beautiful Truth was longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award. Colin has taught creative writing and worked in publishing. Born in Hong Kong, Colin currently calls Quebec home.

Anita Rau Badami is the author of Tamarind Mem, The Hero’s Walk, Can You Hear the Nightbird Call?, and Tell It to the Trees. Her novels have been longlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction, the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, the Kiriyama Prize, and the Commonwealth Writers' Prize. Born in India, she lives in Montreal.
