Description

Vivaldi & Virtuosos: Featuring the Debut of Soprano Liepa Spakauskas

June 14 – 4:00 PM | Music Niagara Festival Tent at Ironwood Cider House

Music Niagara launches its 28th Summer Festival with a vibrant and inspiring afternoon celebrating the next generation of extraordinary artists.

At the heart of this special concert is the festival debut of soprano Liepa Spakauskas, a remarkable young vocalist whose artistry has already taken her to major stages including Roy Thomson Hall, Meridian Hall, and Carnegie Hall. A former member of the Toronto Children’s Chorus, Liepa now prepares to begin her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Toronto.

Joining her are outstanding young violinists from The Taylor Academy and The Glenn Gould School at The Royal Conservatory of Music:

  • Sophia Chen, violin – First Prize winner at the Canadian Music Competition and one of Canada’s most promising young talents, recognized for her expressive artistry and commanding stage presence.
  • Dongyu Yao, violin – A dynamic young artist completing his Artist Diploma at The Glenn Gould School, with a strong background in chamber and orchestral performance.
  • Elisha Ruo, violin – A first-year Glenn Gould School student and former member of the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, known for his refined technique and musical sensitivity.

The program features Vivaldi-inspired works, brought to life with freshness and vitality by these rising artists.

They are joined by the CamerAtis Ensemble (string quintet), featuring Atis Bankas, Founder and Artistic Director of Music Niagara, whose leadership and artistry have shaped the festival for nearly three decades.

Set beneath the beautiful Music Niagara Festival Tent at Ironwood Cider House, guests are invited to arrive early and enjoy the relaxed summer atmosphere.

Food, wine, and Ironwood’s signature cider will be available for purchase.

Join us as we open the season with an inspiring celebration of young talent, mentorship, and the timeless brilliance of Vivaldi.

This concert is generously sponsored by Ontario Creates.
