Description
Racing Minotaur this year? Just curious what the fuss is about? Come find out.
In partnership with Arc'teryx, we're hosting a training run around Squamish on May 14th, a free evening out in the mountains with people who are just as deep in it as you are. Route TBD, but expect something that earns its views.
Arc'teryx mountain running athlete Jessie McAuley will be leading the charge. You're in good hands.
If you've looked at the Minotaur course and wondered how you're supposed to prepare for that, this is your answer. We're taking a page straight from the race playbook: around 10–12 km with 800 m of climbing. This one is for anyone who wants to get a feel for what Minotaur is all about before race day whether you're toeing the line in June or just wondering if you should.
No pressure on pace, just good people moving through the mountains together. The route is designed to give you an honest taste of what the course demands, so nothing about race day feels like a surprise.

Squamish-raised, son of a park ranger and avalanche specialist, Jessie McAuley grew up with steep terrain as his backyard. A former freeskier and mountain bike racer turned ski mountaineering and trail running athlete, he's built a resume of FKTs across alpine runs and ski traverses while somehow always finding room in his vest for a point-and-shoot. Light and fast is the goal; the Coast Mountains' granite slabs, hidden walls, and alpine meadows are the draw. He's observant, condition-aware, and as comfortable reading terrain as he is moving through it. |
