Description

Michaela Slinger is a Vancouver-based “legendary songbird-in-the-making” (Dan Mangan). Her songwriting and stop-you-dead vocals illuminate the universality of our lives by diving deep into quiet moments of love, loss, longing, and uncertainty.

Her forthcoming album “Green and Trying” (September 25th 2026) marks a turning point in her career after parting ways with her previous record label and creating big wins independently. Initial singles ‘Fleeting’ and ‘Something’s Gotta Give’ landed her Top 5 spots on Spotify’s “Folk and Friends” and her first Triple J radio play in Australia on “Edge of Country” and “Country Club” programming. Recorded at Protection Island Studios with David Vertesi (Haley Blais, Hey Ocean!) and Jonathan Anderson (Ocie Elliott, Field Guide), this music captures an artist learning to sit with the unanswered questions that accompany the ending of a decade and places her sonically alongside greats like Kacey Musgraves, Maggie Rogers, and Sheryl Crow. Michaela has shared stages across North America with artists like Dermot Kennedy, Donovan Woods, Bre Kennedy, Hayden Everett, Virginia to Vegas, and Michael Bernard Fitzgerald.

Michaela’s sophomore LP 'This Can’t Last Forever' (604 Records) was written between her muse cities of Nashville, Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Toronto and featured collaborators like Khalid Yassein (Wild Rivers) and Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen). Her single "Everything I Wasn't Looking For" appeared in Netflix's show BET in May 2025, introducing her to new fans across the world and landing her on Shazam charts. The record helped cement her rise, including a nomination for Pop Artist of the Year at the 2024 Western Canadian Music Awards, the cover of Amazon Music’s Fresh Folk & Acoustic playlist, spotlighting on SiriusXM’s Poplandia: About To Break, and a feature on CBC Music’s Songs You Need To Hear.

As a songwriter, Michaela is a frequent collaborator with industry heavyweights. Her recent cut with Nashville-based Shawn Williams and We Lepers landed a Top 10 spot on Spotify’s “Folk and Friends”. She is a featured vocalist and co-writer on Braden Lam’s focus single “Wide Open” (Universal Music Group Canada), and a co-writer on feature single “the girl” by Lili-Ann Di Francesco (Universal Music Group Canada). Other collaborators include Collin Pastore and Jake Finch (Ashe, Lucy Dacus), Ryan Stewart (Carly Rae Jepsen), Louis Johnson (Mackenzie Porter, Thelma and James), RYMAN, Emma Ogier, Lucy Clearwater, Tyler Geertsma (Escondido), David Vertesi (Haley Blais), Joe Avio (Ruel, Katherine Li), and Sebastian Gaskin (2025 JUNO Winner for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year).

Michaela gives back to her community by passionately working to bring the transformative power of songwriting, music, and creativity to people of all ages through several programs. This includes Harmony For All (City of Burnaby) which brings engaging music programming to groups and organizations who serve individuals experiencing barriers to participation, including newcomer families, adults with disabilities, and residents in social housing; and through her own program Songs in Schools, which is an immersive and expressive songwriting and music workshop designed for all learner types and skill levels to joyfully develop their capacity to appreciate, understand, and create music in connection to BC’s curriculum and core competencies.

Michaela proudly calls beautiful Vancouver, BC home, and spends a portion of each year writing songs in her muse cities of Nashville, Los Angeles, and Toronto.
