DirectHer and YWCA Edmonton are excited to present: Board Camp 2!

What to expect: This workshop will run from 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM on May 14, 2022 (with breaks throughout). Sessions covered will include:

• 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM: Intro to Policy - Let's talk policy! In this session, the team from Shores Jardine LLP will teach you the basics of policy design and help you think about how to approach policy development as a board member.

• 10:45 AM - 11:45 AM: The Board's Role in EDI - Join award-winning EDI thought leader, Erin Davis, for a conversation about the fundamentals of EDI and inclusive workplaces.  This session will be an opportunity to explore any EDI questions you have and start to think about the board's role in this topic.

• 1:00 - 2:00 PM: The Board's Role in Cybersecurity - You've heard the term cybersecurity, but do you know what it means to the organization you govern? In this session, cybersecurity expert Mubina Chunara from Ernst & Young LLP will guide you through the pillars of cybersecurity and prepare you to be a value-adding contributor on this topic. 

• 2:15 PM - 4:00 PM: Building a Strategic Board -Looking to have more strategic and generative conversations at your board table? In this session, Sheila Witwicky from National Growth partners will teach you how to take strategy from a buzzword to a way of being, thinking of agenda design, recruitment and more.  We are excited to be joined by YWCA Edmonton guests Katherine O'Neill (CEO), Francesca El Ghossein (Director) and May Han (Director) for their lived experience on the topic. 

Who should attend? This session is intended for those who have taken our Board Basics/Board Camp 1 training or those who want to further their governance knowledge. The sessions in this workshop will be focused on not for profit board governance. 

Pricing and location:  This event will be held in-person at YWCA Edmonton's Cushing House AND streamed virtually. Participants can attend one, two, three or all sessions.  Tickets are available on a "pay what you can" basis.

The suggested donation is $10/session or $40 for the day.  If cost is a barrier, please contact info@directhernetwork.com to inquire into our Scholarship program (we do not want cost to be a barrier to your access to the governance space!). 

Please note - ticket sales are final. At this time, a recording of the workshop will not be available. Following registration, workshop materials (and a zoom link for those attending virtually) will be emailed to you the week of May 9, 2022.
