Matt Storm “EP Release Party” featuring Desirée Dawson, Krystle Dos Santos and Ivan Hartle
MATT STORM (Vancouver) // http://mattstorm.ca/
Matt Storm is a singer-songwriter from Vancouver B.C. As a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Matt produces and records all his own work at East Vancouver’s Orchid Studios. When he’s not creating his own tunes, he is hard at work helping other local artists realize their sonic vision as Orchid Studios house engineer.
His sound can be described as a indie soul, playing on classic references such as Bill Withers and Donny Hathaway, intertwined with new sounds like Emily King, Nick Hakim and Ray LaMontagne. Drawing on life experience and introspection, his songwriting searches for meaning through melancholy, and hopes to define love through vulnerability.
DESIRÉE DAWSON (Vancouver) // https://www.desireedawsonmusic.com/
Desirée Dawson hails from Vancouver, the unceded, ancestral, and occupied, traditional lands of the Coast Salish peoples. You might know her as the warm hearted artist who won CBC's Searchlight Competition, as well as rocking stages with her ukulele all around the world. Asides from her soulful ukulele numbers, Desirée has had chart topping singles in the current dance music scene.
Her single, 'Hide', won her the title of CBC searchlight 2016 winner and is her first solo single on CBC Radio, iTunes and Spotify. "Hide" made it onto top 100 songs of 2016 and essential songs of 2016 list on the CBC website/ radio station and hit over 1 million streams on Spotify this past winter. Since 'Hide', Desirée has had 2 more songs added to the CBC radio 2 top 20 playlist, 'Wild Heart' and 'Where Do We Go'. All three songs are off her debut album, 'Wild Heart'.
Desirée’s most memorable moments are performing on the CBC searchlight TV show and receiving the title of 2016 CBC searchlight winner on national television. She has been landing slots at festivals all across Canada as well as opening up for many prominent artists in the Vancouver scene. Dawson has made appearances doing live interviews and performances on many shows such as, CBC’s, Roundhouse Radio, CBC music headquarters and other CBC locations across Canada! She was featured in Canadian music magazine in June after her win and in the December 2016 issue of CBC music magazine along side some of the most prominent Canadian musicians!
Desirée makes a point of having every song be honest and emotionally charged. She is passionate about healing as a collective, using the power of music to impact listeners. Through this, her music has managed to travel the world over.
