Led by Tara Dunphy (award-winning songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from The Rizdales and Luther Wright and the Wrongs) and Lindsay Schindler (acclaimed violinist/fiddler, songwriter, and composer from Rant Maggie Rant and Trent Severn), this dynamic quartet—backed by the powerhouse rhythm section of Andrew Kosty on bass and Kenneth Palmer on guitar—creates a sound that’s bold, original, and impossible to pin down. Their 100% original music, penned by Dunphy and Schindler, pulses with raw energy and soulful melodies, earning them accolades like the NERFA Songwriting Award for their breakout single, Bridget O’Brien, and the prestigious 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award for New Artist of the Year for their critically acclaimed, self-titled debut album.

Formed in late 2022, Maggie’s Wake hit the ground running, selling out venues across Canada on their debut “Spirit of the Season” holiday tour. Since then, they’ve captivated audiences at major festivals and prestigious showcases like Folk Alliance International (Missouri 2024) and Northeastern Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA, Maine 2024), while racking up awards, including the Folk Award at the FCLMAs. Critics can’t get enough, describing their sound as “a hearty bowl of everyone’s favorite folk styles, with a dash of Loretta Lynn and a pinch of Nick Lowe.” Doesn’t that sound delicious?!
